Indian Society of Ethno Veterinary Herbal Research was registered on 03.03.2023 with the approval of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.
This society is functioning with the objectives of promoting research and development of herbal products, seeking documentation and conservation of ethno veterinary practices and promoting dissemination and utilization of herbal knowledge in the field of veterinary and animal sciences through conferences, seminars/symposium/workshops. It also works to coordinate with other societies with similar objectives within and outside the country for herbal research and development.
Moreover, the society also has the objective to act as an advisory body to the Government of India with respect to formulation of rules and regulations for Validation and Ethno Veterinary Herbal Drug Development. The first convention of the society was held during July 19-21, 2023 with 50 life members.
International Conference on “Global Perspectives in Ethno Veterinary Herbal Research for Production of Residue Free Animal Products” was conducted by this society during 19-21, July 2023 successfully with 174 participants at the Department of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Orathanadu, a constituent unit of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Chennai.
Department of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Orathanadu, a constituent unit of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Chennai acts as the head quarter of the society. This department operates Ethno Veterinary Herbal Product Research and Development Centre, which is a first of its kind in SAUs to have a fully furnished research and manufacturing facilities for developing veterinary herbal products for the health care of livestock and poultry. This department also offers Post Graduate Diploma in Ethno Veterinary Practices under TANUVAS for field Veterinarians since 2017.
This society also involved in the inclusion of ethno veterinary practices in the veterinary curriculum for the MSVE regulations 2023.
